Paul Barbieux

Was born in Liège(Belgium)on February 18th 1941, qualified in physiotherapy.

In 1964.
Graduated as a physiotherapist.

In 1972.
Trains himself to the reflex massaging techniques in the company of Miss HENDRICKX from Brussels, a great specialist of her time in the visceral techniques. She teaches her art in Belgium, France, Spain, Switzerland as well as in Canada.

In 1976.
Goes to Saint-Mont in the “Gers”(department in France) to discover the teaching of Françoise Mézières. It is a real SHOCK! It is the discovery of Françoise Mézières, his second woman of exception he associates with. He becomes immediately aware of the total complementarity between the Mézières method and the visceral techniques.

From that moment on and every year, he will hit the road back to Compostelle and go to Saint-Mont so that he can return to the core of his knowledge.

In 1977.
He publishes in the "Kiné Scientifique" an article entitled " Mézières et DICKE " summarizing what he already perceives and will develop more extensively later on.
With Miss Hendrickx, they  invite at their own expenses Françoise Mézières and her associate of that moment to Brussels to come and hold a nationwide conference  on the  Mézières Method.
Over 300 participants, physiotherapists and doctors in their vast majority, will reply to the appeal and will be present for the event. Besides admission was free !

In 1980.
He will associate with Miss Hendrickx. It will be the creation of a specialised surgery, in Brussels outside the European Commission buildings where the symbiosis between the Mézières and the Visceral will be therapeutically applied . This will be a rich experience for the future…

In 1982.
He will become Miss Hendrickx's assistant and will take part under this status in the teaching of the  massage of the conjunctival membrane after the method of E.DICKE.

In 1983.
After Françoise Mézières has given up her  collaboration with her assistant, her brother-in-law and also a Mézièriste., she stops her courses and braces herself to leave Saint Mont forever.
The first courses of Muscular Chains and Postures will be organized by Paul Barbieux in Lyon with the collaboration of her brother-in-law, also a mézièriste.
Françoise Mézières will in fact give her tacit consent to that teaching which afterwards will be called Formation Mezières. She realized very well that this teaching was faithful to the orthodoxy of the method, given by  staunch and indefatigable supporters of Françoise Mézières.

Training courses will be given in France in LYON, PARIS, NICE and ANNECY as well as in Belgium, Switzerland and Germany.

In 1992.
The paths of both collaborators fork off inexorably, due to personal reasons of which they will only be the unfortunate victims. Either of them will follow their own path by continuing their teaching individually.

In 1998.
The courses will be organized in Germany. They were requested by a German offical organization of continuous education for physiotherapists so that   Mézières sessions could be  given regularly in German.

In 1999.
He happens to visit Thailand , where his son lives. He discovers the Traditional Thai Massage,
"a sort of Asian Mézières" with, indeed, numerous differences but also with a good deal of similarities...Another SHOCK, another questioning… He returns there more than once, in the north of Thaïland at CHIANG MAI, to follow the teaching of Master Chongkol Sepphakorn Aka, assistant professor for many years in the  U.S.A. via the traditional Chiang Mai hospital . In 1999, he will get his certificate from his very hands.
